We Sleep- Because We Can

The rain continues. The backyard is a mud pit. We got sent to the vet's office for two days so Mum and Dad could have new flooring put in the house - apparently we are not considered helpful when they have strangers in the house. We came home exhausted (and I mean tired). So we napped. And then we napped a bit more.

Check out the drool pool by Cooper's mouth...he's got a major flood going on there! BOL!

Welcome Monday, We've Been Waiting for You!

It's been a long rainy weekend. We have waited patiently, looking and waiting for Monday to arrive! We aren't sure if the days on the calendar arrive by car or if they arrive on the wind.

This is me, Dozer. I kept watch best. I didn't just keep watch for Monday, I kept my eye on that dang cat from across the street.
Dis here is Cooper. He didn't keep watch very well, in fact you can see he has his eyes closed...he took numerous naps. Monday could have sneaked in and moved in without us knowing when he was on "watch".

Sleepy Sunday - 2011 Edition - Dozer

Let's look over some of our best napping photos of 2010 shall we?

Please note that most of these boring images are of Cooper. I rest my case.

(These were all naps taken in one day)

If Cooper's day job doesn't work out, I am renting him out as a rug.

No, he's not dead...well, actually I'm not sure...
Why would anyone put an arm on this chair when everyone knows this is where I lay my head?

A Cold Fall Night

...a cold fall night requires conserving heat and finding a comfortable position.

Good-night!

Wordless Wednesday

(This is so pathetic. Cooper is just trying to snorgle with Mum)

(I am so out of here. If she's sleeping then she can't be
getting me treats. I have to find a vertical food provider)

Sunday is Bone Day!

We got bones from Mum today.

Dottie had hers in the kitchen.

But she fell asleep mid-chew.

Cooper decided to mull over where to chew his.

He spent a lot of time thinking.

Meanwhile, I decided to eat my bone in pieces.

Hey look at me! I got a bone and you don't!

Cooper decided to bury his bone. Not a very good job if you ask me.

Great! Now he can't remember where he buried it!

Still incredibly bored waiting....

This me being bored. This Santa business is getting tiresome.
When is the old goat going to get here?

This is me lying on my back while I am bored.

This is my tummy all over the bed.
Remember, the camera adds 10 pounds.

This is Cooper with his face in the quilt.
When he gets bored he naps.
Party pooper.

How can my life be so boring?

Santa Paws when are you coming? We decorated the mantle with our  Dogs with Blogs Christmas cards but all this waiting is getting boring.

I think Santa is too fat to get down our chimney, so I am watching the door.

Even Coop is getting tired of waiting and he is patient as Job.

"What's that? Santa isn't coming for two more days?
Okay, I am going back to my nap then."

Dottie Update - Cooper

Blind, deaf and slightly confused and yet Dottie continues to have an incredible sense of radar when it comes to the kibble canister. While Mum took a shower, Dottie took down the kibble container and Dozer joined her for a quick nosh. Unfortunately I was deeply engrossed in my post-breakfast nap and missed the foray.

Dottie is having some problems with her hind legs when she gets up in the morning and Mum is helping her up and down the stairs to the backyard because Dots kind of fell at lunchtime. So no more jumping up and down without supervision says Mum! I could supervise, if I can do it from my chair in the living room.

Sleepy Sunday - Notes from Cooper

It was a grey and foggy morning so we decided to take naps. Mum had vacuumed the family room so we needed to get back in there to shed a bit and re-fur the fur-niture for her. Dozer fell asleep with his nose between the cushions.
You can see Dottie's fluff coming out of her fur. Mum needs to do something about that, she looks raggedy!
I started out on Mum's chair with my usual classical pose.
I started sliding a bit and lost my pose.
I'm drooling on Mum's cushion and she doesn't even know it.

Sleep Positions

Fortunately even in my cage I have been able to click off some interesting pictures of my siblings. For this foray I decided to document the interesting sleep positions of my fellow canines. They have spent a lot of this weekend napping so I had hundreds of snapshots to choose from. Okay, every one raise their paws who thinks this has to be one uncomfortable position to sleep in. I agree. What is Cooper thinking of? His neck must be made of rubber.
I am not sure but I think Dottie looks for the strangest places to sleep. She always goes for doorways, like she is guarding but usually she just trips up the pawrents. This is a true corgi pose but she looks like a pig on a spit. (Mum is giving me the "look" for saying that. It isn't like I said she should be on a spit, only that she looks like she is one fat porker on one.) Speaking of which, Dottie had her half yearly exam at the vets and she has to go back to in two weeks so they ca recheck her stomach. Apparently the massive amount of kibble she ate was like a cannonball in her gut and Dr. Lewis-Simpson said she couldn't really get anything to move. Well, ya! No joke! Again, this sort of goes hand-in-hand with my pig analogy.

Mum thinks this is one of those cute pictures that must be posted. What she doesn't know is that at the puppy farm they teach us to assume these positions as a guarantee of melting pawrents hearts, increasing treat dispersal, and generally making us irresistible. Coop must have gotten an "A" for this one!

Love, Dozer
