Get Your Hankie Out

This video has made Mum cry numerous times over the years because 1) She loved James Stewart (still does), 2) She loves dogs (like me) and 3) She cries whenever a dog dies (ask her about Old Yeller)

And we leave you with that. We miss you too Beau. And Jimmy.

This is how we feel - Dozer and Cooper

I am dog. I believe in unconditional love. I do not settle for infatuation or puppy love. I believe in true love to the end. I am a life-long lover who will lie at your feet, on the bed, by your chair, at your side. I am dog. I insist on your love. I will stay on a grave of a lover until my end. I believe in commitment. When we have chosen each other, I will be there for you with plenty. Out of my heart flows life and love. You fill my life with abundance and I am fulfilled. Unconditional love is the highest gift. I am committed to love.

This is from our new friend Kirby's blog at Welcome to Kirby's World. We think it sums up how we all feel about our pawrents, right?

Loose Leashes - a New Site to See

Cooper here. Mum found this fun site of Photographer Ron Schmidt who takes great pictures of dogs. We saw this one of the pug and immediately thought of Howie PeePants in Texas. You can buy all sorts of prints at Ron's website http://www.looseleashes.com for very affordable prices (unfortunately Mum doesn't make enough money to be buying fine art for our dog wall but maybe if she wins the lottery). These labs are Lewie and Clark, they are great adventurers and are always after their yellow tennis ball.
Look at that bull dog puppy! Makes you want to lick his face!
Dozer was thrilled to see this picture of a Corgi in a car.
Lewie and Clark again, this time paddling towards that tennis ball.
This is Clarence, he is an angel dog, but you knew that.

Dog Art - Cooper's Musings

Mum made this card last night with the new rubberstamps she got. It is all about pee mail. I like it a lot. It is artistic with a functional air to it. Dozer's snout is bent out of shape because all the dogs have tails and he does not. I told him the dogs are merely symbolic and Dozer got all mad because he said he is not a simpleton. I decided explaining symbolism to Dozer was more than I could manage today. Actually explaining art to Dozer is a whole 'nother adventure into the Twilight Zone that we should all skip. Love the guy but sometimes he is not the sharpest crayon in the box, to use an artistic metaphor.

Looks A Lot Like Christmas - Cooper

Our friend, Joan, gave Mum this card which we find hysterically funny. Of course we find anything concerning our species interesting and delightful. Mum is frantically trying to figure out what she can dress us up in for our Christmas card. She considered angel costumes but then realized the likelihood of keeping the three of us together for a picture was probably remote. But then she remembered...Photoshop! So Mum is digging through one of our Rubbermaid bins of clothing (we have two) and getting us ready for pictures. Personally I find dressing us up for a holiday picture pretty silly but it keeps Mum happy and she has the keys to the kibble can.

Bad Dog Calendar - Gotta Have It!

Mum seems enchanted with the Bad Dog daily calendar and I decided to scan some of the best of them. (I am in my cage but I brought my office in with me).

I think these dogs rock!

Dogs Rule

Mum had never seen this video before and almost had an accident because it made her laugh so hard. I think it definitely highlights the power and presence of dogs. Once Howie and Willow and I get together we will make a video of choral farting. I wonder if there is still smell-o-vision?

We Search for the Elusive Apples

I am looking for the apples. I know they are here somewhere.
This is my good side - still looking for those apples. Where are they?
They sit up in the tree and are getting ripe.
Why won't they fall down so I can eat them?
Dottie looks for the apples in the pine cone section of the yard.
She cannot find apples either, but she keeps looking.
Wait a minute! What is Cooper eating? He has an apple
and he is not sharing! Bad Cooper! Bad! Bad!
But there must be another one here somewhere.
Do you see any apples? I will keep looking because I want one!

Before there was us, there was them

Way back in history, a long time ago, in another state, (and probably another galaxy), Mum had other dogs in her life. She found this picture in her photo box. The picture dates from June 1970 - that's almost 40 years ago! (Mum must be getting old - need to keep an eye on this).

The bloodhound was Jennifer (Mummy's dog), to the left was Amanda (Uncle Andy's dog) and to the right was Snoopy (Uncle Bryan's dog). They had this metal bed and they would all pack into it together which might have worked except that Jennifer the Bloodhound was really big, even as a puppy.

These were really good dogs in Mum's life and they went to the Rainbow Bridge many years ago. They are remembered with fondness and love.

There were no digital cameras back in the dark ages of Mum's youth (check out her plaid jumper in the picture, BOL!) and no video at all. So this picture is very precious. Good thing Mummy has her digital camera now, she can take lots of pictures of me.

Scored a New Stuffie!

Mum went shopping for a birthday present for the UPS lady at work who really doesn't like to celebrate her birthday. So Mum bought some dog toys for Jody's dog, Anvil, a Jack Russell Terrier. And there in the 50% off bin was this honkin' great duck/partridge. It is the best! I ripped one wing free and then Cooper licked it all over and Dottie just looked.

We haven't had a new stuffie in ages so I didn't even let Mum take the tag off its chest where it says "Press Here to Hear it Squeak!". Haven't figured out why Cooper licks all the toys but he seems to like it.

Dottie Lost in Action

I'm sorry but I think I have the dumbest biped in the world! Mum talked to Dottie's mother tonight and gave Betty a full update on her little furball. Betty is so cute, she always calls Mum when she gets one of Mummy's newsy little letters. So they talked for a half hour and Mum rubbed my ears most of that time. Mum likes Betty a whole bunch and loves writing her. I think Betty must be a saint or something. I mean, who else would give their dog to our Mum so she could be sure Dottie would never go to a shelter? Well, my original parents certainly didn't. They put an ad in the paper for pete's sake! How can you sell a little heartbeat like me? But I digress.

So after about an hour Mummy goes outside and calls for Dottie. No answer. She looks under the deck, around the shed, under the boat. She looks in the bathroom, under the bed, in the guestroom and in the laundry room. She checks everywhere but no Dottie. Mum starts to panic because Dottie still has her old tags on with Betty's name and address. What if Dottie is on the street? Well, we are in a small rural town, how bad could that be? By this time I am feeling really good - maybe Dottie has found a new home? Maybe the nightmare has ended and I can be king of the heap again.

Finally Mum checks the garage and there is Dottie, patiently waiting for her. Sheesh! How Dottie got through the laundry room and down the steep steps into the garage is beyond me but she got to go exploring without us! Mum immediately took Dottie's old collar off and put a new one on with her new tag with her name and Mum's cell phone number. There goes that chance of losing her!

Mummy got Grandmummy a copy of America at Home, a neat book about America and how people live. She made a custom cover on-line and put a neat picture of Grandmummy at HF Bar Ranch on the front. It is pretty cool and I hope Grandmummy's 85th birthday on the 4th of July is fun. We can't go but Uncle Alex will be there so we know it will be fun!

Getting Ready for Valentine's Day

Mum is better - she was sick all last week which was soooo boring! We love a good biped as much as the next canine, but when they get sick, the whole fud chain stops. We spent most of last week on the bed with Mum and slept about fifteen hours out of every twenty-four. Our play time came to a total standstill which was almost grounds for mutiny. Once she saw the doctor and got on some medicine she was on the mend. She felt so good the day after her office visit, we got a walk down to Philomath Park which was pawsome! The creek was flooding so we did not get to do the whole circuit but it was a good walk nonetheless.

Tonight Mum felt we should break out some Valentine duds and take pictures. She began the process by bribing us with dental chewies. For some reason I (Dozer) took three times longer to finish mine and Coop managed to have 4 chewies! I think they were smaller than mine or at least that is what Mum says.

Next thing we knew, Mum had us on chairs, looking out windows and generally behaving like super models
while she snapped away. We should get paid for looking so good!

My profile pretty much sets the ladies' hearts to pitter-pattering. There is nothing like a good Pembroke profile to set hearts aflutter.

Time for us to reclaim the bed and get our beauty sleep.
