This isn't going to help corgi publicity at all!

Andrew Hough

They may be among the Queen's favourite subjects but her corgis are in the doghouse after getting into a fight with one of Princess Beatrice's pets. Max, an 11–year–old Norfolk terrier, is said to have been badly injured after a "nasty" encounter at Balmoral castle last week. The Princess's pet nearly lost an ear and suffered several bloody bite injuries that had to be treated by a vet, in the latest in a series of scraps between royal dogs. It came days after the death from natural causes of another dog belonging to the Duke of York's elder daughter. The Queen and the Duke of Edinburgh were said to be "very upset" about the incident, thought to have occurred last Sunday. The Queen was elsewhere in her Scottish castle when the fight erupted between six corgis and three Norfolk terriers.

"The Queen's dog boy was taking the corgis for a walk and they were joined by the Norfolk terriers, which came with Prince Andrew," one insider told a Sunday newspaper. "They were being taken along the long corridor leading to the Tower Door before being let into the grounds for a walk, and they all became overexcited. They began fighting among themselves and unfortunately the dog boy lost control. "The next thing we knew there were horrific yelps and screams and it seems the corgis picked on Max. "He was very badly injured and had to be taken to the local vet. There was blood everywhere.

Max disappeared in 2008 from the family home in Windsor Great Park, and a search party, including the Queen, the Duchess of York and Princess Eugenie, was formed. Three weeks later he was found bedraggled and hungry. The royal source added: "It's ironic that the Queen was very worried about Max and helped in the search for him, but now her own dogs have attacked him."
The Queen owns three Pembroke Welsh corgis called Monty, Willow and Holly, which are all descended from a dog she was given for her 18th birthday, which was called Susan.
Some corgis were mated with dachshunds, most notably Pipkin, which belonged to the late Princess Margaret, to create "Dorgis". Her three Dorgis are called Cider, Candy and Vulcan.
This sort of news just depresses me.

Dozer Having Neck Issues

Our little man is on pain meds and muscle relaxants. We are not sure what is going on but his neck started spasming on Saturday and the vet thought perhaps he jumped off the couch or fell or something like that. We thought he was all better but last night he was not a happy boy so another vet visit may be in order! Your good thoughts and prayers are always appreciated for the beloved corgi (and his cocker spaniel brother too!)

Come to Mum...No Seriously Come Here!

Come here and let's have a picture...
No, you cannot have a cookie, just come over here...
Try not to look so put upon, this isn't killing you...
Would you please stand still?
Oh bag this, taking a picture with a wayward corgi
simply is not happening today!

The Queen's Visit - Dozer

Things were going so well with the visit from Her Majesty until Mango showed up and let loose with one of his famous farts. Suddenly the Queen had "another engagement" to get to and left. Our chances of getting knighted have disappeared in the fog of Mango's fragrance.

"Does anyone else smell something.....well, Mango'ish?"

Finally, We Can Catch Up!

It seems like forever since Mum let us on the computer so there is a lot to tell but I will keep it short so as not to bore my audience.

Mum took Cooper to Portland last weekend to see Aunt Delight and Uncle Dick. Our cousin Tori, who is 15 years old was there and once again proved that power napping is not for the weak of heart. She is full of vim and vigor and still does a one mile walk each day. Of course she still hates other dogs but she tolerates Cooper. Me? She really cannot stand me so I rarely visit if only to live a long and healthy life!

Cooper said the food was good and there were plenty of treats. He wasn't sure what bowls he was supposed to eat out of, so he ate out of all of them. Smart boy.

Cooper quickly realized that Aunt Delight was a highway to the food and he kept her company in the kitchen a lot. Unfortunately Aunt Delight is not easily prodded into releasing treats so Cooper had to turn on the cute and ratch it up quite a bit.

When Coop got home he gave us all the details and it sounded like a good trip. He was tired though because he said Mum hogged most of the bed and he had to keep fighting for covers.
On Tuesday, September 16th, Mum and Cousin Anthony took Dad out for his 67th birthday - hard to believe he is that old when he still acts like a second grader. And I cannot believe they did not take us along - what kind of family outing is it without the children? Not much of one if you ask me.

This is the really cool oven at the restaurant that they bake pizzas and other things in. See the face? I thought you probably had. Anyway, everyone had a nice dinner and came home and gave us treats for being left out. Well, ya!
More later...

Someone save us from our Mum!

Mum promises to update our blog tonight and include pictures. She keeps ranting about needing to work to pay for kibble and supposedly that is cutting into our computer access and time. Yeah right!

Busy Week for Mum

Mum has been really busy this week and fallen completely down on the job of keeping our blog current. We are not sure where her priorities are but wherever they are, they're in the wrong place!

Mum did set September 20th as our dog party at the house. Aunty Elaine and Aunty Joan are coming with their canines in the afternoon and we will all play in the yard. Dad isn't all that enamored of the idea but it will grow on him.

Mum found this nifty video mentioned on another blog and it shows how dogs really drink water in slow motion. The Food Bowl looks like a cool website too.

I told Mum she had to at least put one photo up with this entry so folks remember how good looking I am. I have to keep my fans satisfied!

I love to sunbathe in the afternoons, it keeps my color up!

Cow Hooves

Mum bought a new bag of cow hooves and we are in heaven. We never had hooves until last week when some of Mum's friends at Community Development told her about them. They are crunchy and nummy and take a lot of time to chew. I, personally, find myself needing some long draughts of water after an hour or so, but Cooper seems to take to the chew cycle for hours. Dottie, our new sister, just cruises around and scores a hoof when she feels like it.
Dottie is a Cardigan Corgi and is 12 years old. She is different from me, she has a tail. I am not sure what is so special about having a tail, her tail trails on the floor behind her most of the time. But she is wagging it more and more.
Dottie was an AKC show champion in her day and then she was bred and then she was sold. Not a very happy life in my book but then she lived with Betty for four years and was very happy. Betty adopted Dottie when she was 9 years old and gave her to Mummy about 4 months ago. Betty wanted to make sure Dottie had a good home in case anything happened to Betty (who is 87). So Dots came to live with us but eventually she may go to Arizona to live with our Uncle Bryan. But for the time being, she is our sister and we are learning to love her. She is just a barker! She talks, she moans in bed and she jumps like a bunny when she is happy. I think she's an idiot but she makes Mum happy and she can't climb the stairs and get on the bed so I guess she can stay.

Good-Bye to Uncle Bob

We said good-bye to Uncle Bob today. He is heading home to Seattle and we will now have to coerce our bipeds into throwing the ball and generally spoiling us.

Last night we had a lot of ball throwing and sitting outside on the swing. It was one of those mild summer evenings you dream of. Dad filled up my wading pool which was handy for a drink and a quick foot wash between runs after the ball.

Cooper got a paper towel roll to chew on - I think that is his comfort fud. He likes to chew and then rolls the little pieces of cardboard on his tongue for a bit. But toilet paper remains his favorite munch food. Me? I am a kibble boy.

Mom used the new dehydrator last night and made sweet potato crisps for us. They came out very well and we had quite a few after breakfast. Now she has apple slices baking for us. I am loving this! Now if we could have some meat products that would be perfect!

Cooper and his paper towel snack.

Lazy, Dazy Summer Days

We're pretty sure Mum thinks we are tearing up the carpet when she leaves or that we're outside running rampant around the apple tree, but in reality, we pretty much nap while she is out. We have found the couch to be a perfect medium for napping - plenty of space to stretch out, two levels if you use the cushions right, and a good view of the front yard in case burglars come. Coop seems to be able to bend his neck into the most extraordinary positions, while I favor the "lie on your back, always ready for a tummy rub" stance myself.

We have our friend Robert visiting this weekend and he is always good for some ball throwing, extra treats and general misbehavior. Last night both Cooper and I got sips of Rum & Cokes when no one was looking. You cannot believe how upset our bipeds were with that! They stopped putting their beverages on the ground and wagged their finger at us - yeah, like that's going to stop us! BOL! Have to love those pawrents even if they work under misconceived ideas, bless their little hearts.

We Went to the Beach

Mom and Dad took us to the beach on Saturday. We ran and ran and ran! Cooper was more interested in the bushes, but I really liked the water. Mom took 56 pictures - thank goodness for digital cameras(!). She was constantly trying to get us to pose but Cooper pretty much ignored her and I was too busy running after the birds. The shore birds are a bunch of teasers - they would let me get pretty close and then fly away once I got close enough to touch them. There was a negative tide and we bounced out on the rocks and got to see starfish and shellfish stuck on the rocks. It was a beautiful day and we were soaking wet when we got back into the car. Dad said someone smelled like a wet dog in the car and then he would look over his shoulder at Coop and me. Well, what did he expect? He takes us to the beach, we play in the water and he is surprised we smell like wet dogs? How long is it going to take us to raise our pawrents I ask you? A loooong time! BOL!

So Much Politicking

Cooper and I have been watching a lot of CNN lately and it seems like politics are all the rage. We aren't sure who we will be voting for - we are still waiting for our voter registration cards to arrive. But we decided we should be proactive in this year of voting and created our own buttons. If a beagle can win Best of Show at Westminster, there's room for a corgi in the White House!

Look What We Grew!

Mum planted a lot of veggies this last summer and she dug up the last of the potatoes this afternoon. There were 11 pounds of potatoes in the raised bed (and we are not entirely sure she got them all) and she found two that look like Mr. Potato (in his younger days we think). She added some eyes and voila(!) Mr. Potato Head and his brother, Teddy Tuber are alive and living in our kitchen. Cooper started licking them and I think was going to make a snack but Mum nipped that in the bud (or eye). BOL!

Snowing!

We love snow and it doesn't often come to visit us. This morning after Mum took her early morning walk it began to snow. She went to work to get the work she needs to do today so she can stay home with us. Unfortunately the snow has stopped and now it is just mush, but while it came down, we were stoked!

Cooper likes to eat the snow off the deck but I like to check it out in the yard. It made it hard to find my Kong Wubee but eventually I found it and Mum threw it.

Then it was time for naps by the fire!

Home Again!

Mum bought this atrocious fence-thing for the car which made Coop and moi sit in the back and gave us no access to the front of the car. This was incredibly rude of Mum and I found it quite depressing. Unfortunately, Coop was not able to stand with me on this one. Just as I was showing him how to give Mummy the stink-eye, he completely lost interest and fell asleep. How worthless is that? It made my job must more difficult but fortunately our cousin, Benny, did his best to make up for the lack of energy on Cooper's part.

Mummy drove most of the way home and we hit a sandstorm in Arizona before we crossed over to California. It has probably made Mum's air filter one gummy mess, but it kept the car going and none of us opened a window or anything silly like that. It made the sky pretty dirty but before we knew it, the storm was gone.
We drove a long, long way and made it all the way to Yreka, California before we stopped for the night. The pass was a mess with snow and ice and Mummy and Uncle Anthony said we needed to sleep and make a start in the morning. The Best Western Hotel only had one room left and we had to all sleep in one bed, two people and three dogs. I slept between Mum and Uncle Anthony, Cooper slept just above me so he could have his head on the pillow and Cousin Benny slept under the covers next to Uncle Anthony. It was a zoo.
It is good to be home but we miss Dad a lot. Mum has been cleaning the kitchen and a lot of the house like a maniac which is troubling. It means a lot of our best toys are going into the dishwasher to be cleaned which means all the good smells go away. To retaliate, Coop and I took two rolls of toilet paper out of the bathroom last night and destroyed them. Unfortunately, Mum has a sinus infection so her reactions wasn't worth the effort. Tomorrow is another day.

In Arizona and Totally Confused!

So the next thing we know, Mum has us backed into the car with our cousin, Benny, a dachsund. We picked up Benny in the morning and then we were off down the road to parts unknown. Mum spent a lot of time saying "Stay Back!" when we tried to get into the front seat. Our Uncle Anthony was co-pilot and made sure there was plenty of Red Bull to drink. It was raining in Oregon and Mum said we even had horizontal rain at times with snowflakes. The first night we made Bakersfield, California because we drove until 8:00pm. Mum seemed a bit tired and Uncle Anthony was just happy to get out of the car and move again! BOL!

The next day we set off again. Mum and Uncle Anthony were really tired because Cousin Benny and I barked our fool heads off most of the night at any little noise we heard. Coop seemed a bit tired as well and he tucked into Benny's bed and slept most of the day. We made lots of potty spots and water. Mum said we needed to drink more water than usual because of the change in temperature.

By 6:30pm we were pulling into Happy Trails where Mum and Dad have our house and we jumped all over Dad. It was a great time and we were really happy to be home, although totally confused as to where exactly we were. I tried to stay awake and play but before long I had fallen asleep on the couch with my walking vest on.

The next day, Dad and Mum took Cooper and me to the Dog Park in Surprise, Arizona. It was sooo much fun! We ran around and chased tennis balls while Mum talked to new friends, some of whom live at Happy Trails.
When we need to go outside, Mummy takes us outside and down the lane to the dog run that Happy Trails has and we sniff the tumbleweeds and leave messages. The cactus are kind of confusing, so sharp and so un-pee'd upon! Cooper is a lot of braver and barges right into the cactus but I choose to skirt the issue.

Christmas was great! Cooper waited for Santa but fell asleep before he came. Mum took us to the Dog Park again and we played with 5 West Highland Terriers who were great fun. There were three pugs, a greyhound and a bunch of other dogs too.

We will be leaving the day after tomorrow to return to Oregon which will be sad because we have to say good-bye to Dad but we will see him again soon. Mum and Uncle Anthony will try and be home by Friday so Mummy has a couple of days to get things organized before she goes back to work.
Hope everyone had a nice holiday and a Happy New Year!
