This Cannot Be!

Dottie is still getting on websites and she has been at the Rainbow Bridge for over a year! Well at least I got a small mention, but this blog is named after ME!

Tasha Tudor is like the top of the Corgi chain. Mum reads me Tasha Tudor before bed and I always have sweet dreams. Of course I am the only corgi in any of the dreams because they are my dreams and I get to have the starring role. Cooper can be in some but never a starring role!

You can visit the Tudor Website by clicking this link.

Dottie is still getting top billing

This is just pathetic (moans a sad Dozer). Dottie is in the new Best Friends magazine this month in their Memories section. I blame Mum because she must have been the one to send in the notice of Dottie's passing and no one else knows where the pictures are kept.

(Cooper sneaks out of the room and runs down the hall laughing and giggling - he knows where the pictures are but please don't tell Dozer!)

Mum sends in a donation each year to Best Friends because they are a great rescue and take care of every kind of animal and then trys to find homes for the residents. Once in a while, when I am bad, she swears she is sending me there for obedience classes or time outs. I say to myself "Whatever". Personally I think I am perfect.

Anyway, one more salute to Miss Dots. She definitely knew how to work the media and the ring in her favor.

Dottie is with Betty Now - Thanks Mark!

This here is Mark. He is Betty's son. Betty was Dottie's previous owner who passed away earlier this year.
This here is Dottie (in the tin) at Betty's gravesite. Mark was a real friend and took Dottie's ashes to Betty's grave and spread them around so Dottie and Betty can be together again.

They don't make Hallmark cards to say thank you to someone for doing something so nice. So we decided to introduce you to Mark's new puppy, Jabba. WARNING: These photos are shockingly cute and we will not be responsible for people running out of their homes in search of a lab puppy after they view these images. If you are low on willpower, then leave this site NOW!

This here is Mark and Jabba. We're giving this a big 9+ on the cute scale.

This is very dignified - nice pose there Jabba.
Every pup needs a sock monkey.
Holy cow, can this get any cuter?
Feel the softness, smell the puppy-ness..
You want to kiss that little nose, don't you? Oh yeah..
Might want to watch what you are chewing there big guy. Anything that is plugged into electricity is not a good idea in my book.

Okay, we'll say good-night with this picture.
It doesn't get much cuter than this.

Thanks Mark, we love you,
Dozer, Cooper and Nancy

Dottie is still a Star (big sigh from Dozer)

Dottie is going to be the Dog of the Day at The Daily Corgi, Tuesday, 17 August 2010! Laurie, who is the webmaster and the brilliant mind behind this site, had Dottie down to be on the The Daily Corgi before Dots passed away. And even though Dots isn't with us anymore, Laurie said she could still be the Corgi of the Day. (I can think of another corgi who would have fit in just right and who has lots and lots of pictures of himself that he could have sent to Laurie, but noooo.....!)

Anyway, because Miss Dots is going to be the corgi tomorrow, Mum shot a picture of where Miss Dots is right now because she is about to go on a trip. (How many trips can Dottie take? She's gone to the Rainbow Bridge, where do you go from there? Europe? Disneyland?)

Mum says Dottie is in the little green canister with the flowers. I said, "Really?" Now if you knew Dottie, you will agree she was a full-figured girl so I am not seeing how they stuffed her into the little tin. But Mum said so, and even though it seems impossible, I guess Dottie is in there.

Mum says Dottie is going to Vancouver, Washington with some help from the United Parcel Service. She is going to be with Betty's son, Mark (Betty being Dottie's former owner/mother who died a bit ago). Mark said he would take Miss Dots to Betty's grave site and Dottie can be with Betty again. Mum said Mark will probably just spread Dottie's ashes or something to make sure Dots is always with her dear Betty. I am not sure I understand any of this and it sounds like a lot of science fiction to me, but it seems to make Mum happy, so who am I to argue?

Mum is going to keep Dottie's collar (which was mine before she came to live with us) and her tags as a reminder of sweet Dottie.

I would like to remind you that...

...Dottie ate one of the kitchen chairs so we no longer have 4 matching chairs any more
...Dottie tipped over the garbage can so many times Mum/Dad had to put it on a table
...Dottie pulled the table cloth and almost everything on the table off in search of food
...Dottie had the BIGGEST poopies of any dog on this planet (yeah go ahead and check)
...Dottie ate things ladies should not put in their mouth (let's leave it at that but it starts with "P" and ends in "ies" so you figure it out)
...Dottie farted and had bad breath (if you ate what she did, you would too)

...But Dots was a winner and I guess I loved her....okay, I did love her and Cooper did too.

So please visit The Daily Corgi and see Dots in action 'cause she's hitting the trail and going north after this last show!

Night, Love, Dozer

PS: Laurie, I am still available. Call my agent, we'll have lunch. ~ Dozer

Good-night Sweet Girl - Remembering Dottie

 Dottie Edwards
1996-2010

(Dozer's Mum here) Dear Dottie Dog went downhill last night and I took her into the vet this morning and had her put down. I was up most of the night with the dear old girl and the vet thinks that her symptoms indicated a brain tumor and heart failure (which we already knew). Whatever it was, Dottie was in distress and I am not one to let an animal suffer. They do such a lovely job at the vet's office. They gave Dots a sedative which equated to two stiff Scotch and waters and she was in a very happy place based on the fact that her tongue took on a life of its own. And then she was gone after the final shot. She had her favorite vet and tech and honestly it was such a gentle passing, one could not have asked for a better exit. I am having her cremated and then will give the ashes to her previous owner's son who will have them scattered on Betty's plot so they are together again.

Dozer amd Cooper noted that Dots did not come home with me and for the first time, both of them got on my lap for a cuddle (that only lasted a few minutes and probably will not be repeated again in this lifetime!)

Dottie Edwards - took down garbage cans, ate one of the kitchen chairs, loved apples off the ground, moaned and rolled on her back when she was feeling frisky, loved to have her ears scritched and never forgot she was an AKC Champion show dog.  How lucky we were to have her in our life for two and a half years. Now we return her to Betty so she can sit by Betty's feet and have treats fed to her and talk to her old friend about this and that. Thanks for visiting us Dots, we will always love you!

(Thank you to Emily at Dreameyce Pet Photography for these beautiful pictures of Miss Dottie - Emily caught the essential Dots so we will have such lovely images to remember our old girl! Click here to visit Dreameyce's website)

The Week's Recap

Cooper ran away this past week. Mum was working in the front garden and he took off down the street and made a bee-line for the park. Mum went slightly bananas and jumped into the dog-mobile and started scooting around the neighborhood. A neighbor lady recognized the miscreant (that is what Cooper is) and was holding him when Mum rolled up. Cooper wasn't the least bit sorry and had to be bribed to get in the car.

I phoned the authorities and Cooper is going to SuperMax the minute they have an opening.

Then Cooper stole a roll of toilet paper and took it under the bed and has been munching on it. There is toity paper everywhere! And again, he is not in the least big apologetic for his misbehavior!

Mum got the garden in but it won't last long. We love to graze through the veggies. She uses these lame fences which are worthless. But it seems to make her happy to put the fences up so who are we to argue?

(No that is not a regulation size wheelbarrow. Mum found it at a flea market and thought it was cute. Whatever.)

We suspect having ten tomato plants might be a tad too many, but no one listens to us. Fortunately, we find cherry tomatoes delectable.

This is me checking the yard for intruders.

This is her majesty, Dottie, the Queen of our ranch-style castle.

The weather has been wild this week. Every day it rains, hails, then the clouds clear and it is bright and sunny. Just when you think the weather has passed, it rains again and the wind picks up. It is most disconcerting!

Love, Dozer

Raining Again, Let's Nap

Dottie seems to find comfort knowing where the wall is. Being blind and deaf, she has found walls cannot sneak up on you and they tend to be very reliable and constant. And should the wall heater go on, she has the spot in the house to welcome the hot air!

It's Pee-licious

For our delicate readers, you may wish to skip this blog entry and shield your eyes from such revealing and somewhat potty-oriented narrative. But to you brave ones, let's go!
We are sure you will agree, being able to pee has a special place on all our fun-o-meters.

Cooper is always a willing participant.

Dozer always has to have the last word. (You understand what we mean about "word" right?)

Just a word of advice from Miss Dottie to you.

Thank you to all our bloggy friends who crossed their paws, prayed (we really thank you for that), and sent us notes to let us know you were rooting for Dottie. We are incredibly touched and awed by your generosity of spirit.

Love, Dozer

PS: Mum wrote the last part because I could honestly care less because this blog is supposed to be about ME!

Anesthesia is a long trip home

Dozer here:

Mum has brought Dottie home and she is sort of with us. Mum says Dottie is going to be sleepy for a while and needs to rest because she still is getting past the anesthesia. Dots has been crying a bit but then she puts her head down and sleeps a little. She will be better tomorrow. Until then she has to stay in her room so she doesn't fall down or hurt herself.

Our vet (Ark Animal Hospital) today was Dr. Lewis-Simpson (left) . We like her bunches, she is very nice and gentle. Dr. Lewis-Simpson has a DVM from Oregon State University and Washington State University, and she has a special interest in surgery. (Good thing with my knees).

And our vet tech was Jasmine (left) who is Cooper's girlfriend, except we aren't supposed to tell anyone that because he says it is a secret. (He made me put the hearts next to Jasmine's picture).

"She loves talking with people and prides herself on providing great customer service. Her dog Bronx was adopted from Heartland Humane Society and is a professional beggar by nature. She also has four cats: Ziggy, Brooklyn, Meko, and Kaya." (from the Ark website)

These are the culprits in our tale of woe. (See below) The big boulder was a centimeter in diameter and brought along a bunch of little friends when he left Dottie.

Dottie is going on special food starting tomorrow and she has to take antibiotics twice a day to get better.

Shhh, Dottie is asleep. We'll write more later. Night and thank you for your thoughts and prayers (they worked!), Love from your favortie naughty corgi, Dozer

Update on Dottie Dog

Mum says "thank you" to everyone's good thoughts and prayers for Dottie. The vet put her under sedation and managed to remove a large bladder stone without surgery. So Dottie gets to come home! She still has some stones but she is going back on her special food again and we will hope we will get another good year like last time.
Dots is currently sleeping off her anesthesia.

Mum will go get the merry Dot'ster later this afternoon. And then Dottie will probably be ordering room service and making us go get her things. She is such a diva at times.

The Queen is In

Emily from Dreameyce Studios took pictures of Dottie at the show on Saturday and Mum thought she would share one or two. Dottie wasn't very well yesterday, she was falling down and had tremors. (I think she was faking but Mum is appalled I would even suggest such a thing - all I'm saying is Dottie was just fine Sunday but once the attentioned moved off of her...)

Check out that prance!
Dottie on the podium thing. That's Dana behind her.

Mum says Dottie is back to her old self this morning and we don't need to worry about her so much. She is barking and sleeping and roaching all over the house. Whatever...

Dottie Wins at the AKC Show!

Mum says I have to preface this blog entry by stating that while Dottie did win first place in the Veteran's Class at the Chintimini AKC Dog Show yesterday, she was the only entry which made it tad less competitive than it might have been. That said, let's move onto the pictures and our story!

Mum and Dad had to get up very early to get Dottie to the AKC Dog Show by 7am. They found Dana Wellock -Dottie's original owner/breeder and then Dottie had to wait to get her final grooming before the classes began.
Mum took Dottie's wagon so Dots got to rest while waiting. After a bit, Dottie got bored and took a nap.

When it was time for the Veterans Class and Dottie had the ring to herself! Everyone applauded when Dottie went around the ring because she was 14 years old and this was her last show. Once she got going, Dottie pranced like she was half her age!
The judge, Stephanie Seabrook Hedgepath, came over to see how beautiful Dottie was and recognized her because Dottie is a descendent of a dog the judge brought over from England.
When Dottie got her pink ribbon the judge cried (and everyone clapped a bunch more).
Then Mum had to go into the ring with Dottie because Dana was showing her dog Striker and Dottie had won her class, so she got to be in the ring again. Mum had no idea what she was doing but everyone was very nice and people clapped for Dottie again!

Here is a ten second video of Dottie in the ring with Mum (try not to be blinded by Mum's giganormous butt)

This is Dottie getting ready for her professional photograph with her judge (Stephanie Seabrook Hedgepath) and Dana! Mum is on the far right. (Everyone let Dottie have her picture taken first because she was very tired and the oldest dog there - Mum thought that was very nice and says "thank you" to all those nice people).

This is a picture of Dottie and Dana in 1997 at the Chintimini AKC Dog Show. Dottie was about 1 year old and she won Best of Breed. Some things never change!
Mum, Dad, and Dottie came home and they all promptly took naps. Apparently these dog shows take a lot out of you.

Don't worry about Cooper and me just because we were ignored for an entire day. Just a reminder, this blog is about me, not Dottie.

Dozer Edwards, Esq.

(Editors Note: Most of the photos were taken by Bob Edwards, as was the video. Hence the higher quality than you may be used to! LOL!)

Bad Dozer, BAD, BAD!

I am in the dog house because
I stole Dottie's dinner.
She can't see so I walked over
and started eating her food out of
her bowl, while she was still
eating. Mum says this is
unacceptable behavior.

(big sigh)
