Dottie Wins at the AKC Show!

Mum says I have to preface this blog entry by stating that while Dottie did win first place in the Veteran's Class at the Chintimini AKC Dog Show yesterday, she was the only entry which made it tad less competitive than it might have been. That said, let's move onto the pictures and our story!

Mum and Dad had to get up very early to get Dottie to the AKC Dog Show by 7am. They found Dana Wellock -Dottie's original owner/breeder and then Dottie had to wait to get her final grooming before the classes began.

Mum took Dottie's wagon so Dots got to rest while waiting. After a bit, Dottie got bored and took a nap.

When it was time for the Veterans Class and Dottie had the ring to herself! Everyone applauded when Dottie went around the ring because she was 14 years old and this was her last show. Once she got going, Dottie pranced like she was half her age!

The judge, Stephanie Seabrook Hedgepath, came over to see how beautiful Dottie was and recognized her because Dottie is a descendent of a dog the judge brought over from England.

When Dottie got her pink ribbon the judge cried (and everyone clapped a bunch more).

Then Mum had to go into the ring with Dottie because Dana was showing her dog Striker and Dottie had won her class, so she got to be in the ring again. Mum had no idea what she was doing but everyone was very nice and people clapped for Dottie again!

(Everyone let Dottie have her picture taken first because she was very tired and the oldest dog there - Mum thought that was very nice and says "thank you" to all those nice people).

This is a picture of Dottie and Dana in 1997 at the Chintimini AKC Dog Show. Dottie was about 1 year old and she won Best of Breed. Some things never change!

Mum, Dad, and Dottie came home and they all promptly took naps. Apparently these dog shows take a lot out of you.

Don't worry about Cooper and me just because we were ignored for an entire day. Just a reminder, this blog is about me, not Dottie.

It's All About Dottie (big sigh)

We can tell you now that Dottie is going to be in an AKC Dog Show this coming Saturday! They are having a "Veteran's Class" and Dottie has been entered! Dots' orginal owner/breeder, Dana Wellock, is going to show her. Dana came over yesterday to do Dottie's nails which took forever (at least in my opinion since Dana couldn't pay attention to me if she was doing Dots' nails). Friday Dottie goes to the groomer to have a bath and get her hair done, whatever tha means.


Dana brought her own table and chairs and combed out Miss Dottie's hair.

Then Dana filed Dottie's nails until they were just right.

Check out the attention to detail.

Dana even cut the hair on Dottie's feet and between her pads.

Look at the paw-nicure! Lovely toes'es. The hair is cut so the feet's are the breed standard.

The back feet have their hair cut different.

And this Dottie right before her nap. The pawnicure was very tiring.

So Miss Dottie goes in the show ring Saturday morning at 8am! Mum and Dad will take her over at 6:45am so Dana can do some final grooming and then it is into the ring and hopefully the winner's circle. Keep your paws crossed!

Shameless Advertising - Because We Can!

Our Aunt Laura is going to be at the Linn County Fairgrounds (Albany, Oregon) tomorrow and Sunday for the AKC All Breed Dog Show, Obedience Trial and Rally Obedience. Unfortunately she is not showing her four chihuahuas (Sparky, Tucker, Molly and Katie) but she is going to have her own little booth/table for her nifty collars. I thought Mum should buy me a bunch of collars so I could change them every day to suit my mood and temprement for that day. Mum said something about something freezing over and we never got much further than that. These are some of the collars. Cooper wants the one with the eggs which seems a little strange to me but I think he is still in Easter mode. I saw one with a pirate motif but Mum nixed that one - she said I am not playing pirate and making Coop and Dottie walk the plank for my own amusement.

So this is my shameless advertising of Aunt Laura's handmade collars. The sad news is that they really only fit small dogs like chihuahuas so they aren't meant for relentlessly huge dogs like Mango. But if you want to stop by I had Mum hyperlink the pictures and the title (I told you I was shameless).

Equal Time for the Lady - Dozer

It has come to my attention that while I have been taking naps that a certain older brother has been writing in our blog. Now the only reason his name is on this blog is because our Mother says it has to be. Left to me, Cooper would be writing his prose in the snow. But Mother says we have to share. That said, I would like to make it clear that I DO NOT have enlarged pores or giga-normous hairs emanating from said pores.

Mum says we have been ignoring Dottie and that we have to spend some time on her. So Mum took this video of Dottie on Christmas morning finishing a roaching session in the family room with most of our toys strewn around the room. What the video doesn't show is how bossy Dottie is to everyone. She is only ten years older than me and she just acts like she knows everything because she was a "show dog". She has all these fancy pictures of when she stood around with a bunch of ribbons. Dottie says it is because she has a tail and Cooper and I don't. Is that true? Mum says it could be and then she goes off laughing into the kitchen.

The picture below is Dottie at one of the shows with her "handler" - I am not sure what that is but I don't think I want one holding onto me. Dottie was a lot younger in this photo and now she has grey around her muzzle. But Mum says the grey is very pretty on her. (Women always back each other up.)

Okay, that's enough time on Dottie. Let's get back to something really interesting...ME! Except that it is late and Mum says it is time to climb into bed. Goodnight bloggy friends, see you later.
