A Reminder

This Memorial Day we remember those who gave their lives for us and for those who protect our country. No "thank you" can possibly express how much we owe you.

They are dead; but they live in each Patriot's breast,
And their names are engraven on honor's bright crest.
~Henry Wadsworth Longfellow

A hero is someone who has given his or her life to something bigger than oneself. ~Joseph Campbell

It is foolish and wrong to mourn the men who died. Rather we should thank God that such men lived. — General George S. Patton

We wish you a blessed Memorial Day.

Love, Cooper

Dozer's Naps Off Sunday

Don't blink 'cause it is just 15 seconds of my gorgeous-ness.

My little snorglebutt saws some major Zzzz's

Patient Update: Dozer appears to be fully recovered from whatever he did to his back. He took a one mile walk this morning and is begging to play fetch or at least tug-of-war. Thank you for all your good wishes and prayers!

Snow?

Can you believe all the snow we got? Isn't it incredible?

Mum says I must be truthful and tell you it is not snow. It is white clover that stretches as far as you can see! In a couple of weeks it will be plowed under to add nitrogen into the soil. But for the time being, we get to see it in all its wonderous glory!

Mum says I am getting a little better but I am still not myself. The "rents" think I tweaked my back - but thankfully not my knees. I am on anti-inflammatory medicine and pain meds. I am still sad and look pathetic which has increased my biscuit intake dramatically. I can always put a positive spin on most everything.

Not feeling well

Mum is concerned because I am not being myself. I have no idea what she means. I am just being quiet - what is so odd about that? And our blogger-thingy is not working very well - we cannot add pictures and the fonts are all wonky.

Anyway, Mum had some pictures she was going to add but Blogger isn't feeling well either so we can't.

Before I go to bed, I want to be sure to tell you that this is our 490th blog entry. Yeah, the big 500 is coming up. And to celebrate we will be having a contest. Haven't decided what yet, I am just not feeling up to it but Mum says we will talk about it tomorrow.

Dozer (I'm outta here and into bed with Mumsy)

PeeEss: Sorry about no pictures but we don't know how to fix Blogger. They won't let us do strange things to their servers.

It's the most wonderful time of the year...

No, it isn't Christmas but it is almost better! It's time for the swimming corgi videos! Whoo hoo! The Daily Corgi put us onto this video (Mum says I must always give credit to my sources. Well okay, if it gets me to the top spot and I can actually be the Daily Corgi, then I will give the Head Corgi at the Daily Corgi credit.)

The Week's Recap

Cooper ran away this past week. Mum was working in the front garden and he took off down the street and made a bee-line for the park. Mum went slightly bananas and jumped into the dog-mobile and started scooting around the neighborhood. A neighbor lady recognized the miscreant (that is what Cooper is) and was holding him when Mum rolled up. Cooper wasn't the least bit sorry and had to be bribed to get in the car.

I phoned the authorities and Cooper is going to SuperMax the minute they have an opening.

Then Cooper stole a roll of toilet paper and took it under the bed and has been munching on it. There is toity paper everywhere! And again, he is not in the least big apologetic for his misbehavior!

Mum got the garden in but it won't last long. We love to graze through the veggies. She uses these lame fences which are worthless. But it seems to make her happy to put the fences up so who are we to argue?

(No that is not a regulation size wheelbarrow. Mum found it at a flea market and thought it was cute. Whatever.)

We suspect having ten tomato plants might be a tad too many, but no one listens to us. Fortunately, we find cherry tomatoes delectable.

This is me checking the yard for intruders.

This is her majesty, Dottie, the Queen of our ranch-style castle.

The weather has been wild this week. Every day it rains, hails, then the clouds clear and it is bright and sunny. Just when you think the weather has passed, it rains again and the wind picks up. It is most disconcerting!

Raining Again, Let's Nap

Dottie seems to find comfort knowing where the wall is. Being blind and deaf, she has found walls cannot sneak up on you and they tend to be very reliable and constant. And should the wall heater go on, she has the spot in the house to welcome the hot air!

Wu Name Generator

Our pals the Peppy Sheppys and Otis got us onto the Wu Name Generator which cracked up Mum to no end. You put your first and last name in and the magic generator comes up with your Wu name (not sure what it is but we love it anyway).

Cooper Edwards is Touchy-Feely Unpublished Poet
This is Cooper contemplating his next poem or haiku.

This is one of his latest:

Dog bowl
Emptiness radiates
Tummy growls
Kibble refreshes

Dozer Edwards (me) is Contagious Specialist

Contagious? When it comes to love I am the the specialist and I am contagious - all the ladies "catch" themselves when they meet me, they just want to scoop me up and snuggle me. Wouldn't you like to get a good "dose" of Dozer? Of course you would!

Dottie Edwards is Loose-Lipped Controller
I think this picture pretty much answers that question. Loose-lipped? That's an understatement. Enough said.

Wander on over and find out what your name is. And if you know what a Wu name is, would you let us know please? Thanks!

A photo essay on the imminent demise of Henrietta Hen

All I'm Saying is We Haven't Got Room!

Why Mum finds these creatures adorable defies explanation. Suffice to say, we have no more room in the inn for any more rescues. Back me up on this, would you?

My award - Just for ME!

Those girls over at the Casbah Kitten gave ME an award! I think it is so neat to get awards and you know, one really cannot have too many, don't you agree?

This is what the ladies wrote:

Oh, it seems that we have some trouble following rules exactly. It must be the tortico in jane. She wants to add a 5th colour. RED? What does RED make us think of? The red of a clown's funny nose. And laughing! Really, loudly, fully rolling on the floor laughing. And which of our friends makes us do that? Obviously it has to be Dozer! OK, so he's not a cat.....and it's an extra colour.....but he is just so funny that we have to add him to the mix. And Dozer, do NOT take offense. We're not saying you look like a clown, only that you make us laugh. A lot. A whole lot!

So to our friends we say accept this award from us and THANK YOU for the colour you bring to our life.

Thank you Jane and Alice for my award! I will take good care of it and keep it clean and off the floor.

Love, Dozer

Note to Self: It is About ME

I think we have forgotten the focus of this blog...ME
So let's have a little photo essay as a reminder

Me, on the bed, three-quarter profile

Whoops, me moving in for the next shot
"
My ear. If you aren't talking about me, I can't hear you

What's that? Come closer.

Come here and let me give you a big wet kiss!

Mum is totally pathetic

Mum is home from North Carolina but is sick with a cold.  She says she is "sick as a dog" which we take great offense at. The best she can do at this time is post the above pictures of our cousin, Nicky (above with her Mummy Katharine), who lives in Chapel Hill, NC with Mum's parents. As you might guess, Nicks is a shelter dog like the rest of us and she has a wonderful black tongue. She also has a giganormous tail with massive feathers. Some dogs have all the luck.

We had a great time with Dad and will relate stories later. He is sick too. Really, our parents are just pathetic.

We are available to come stay with any of our friends while are parents get well. We have Mum's magic card so we can make travel arrangements on our own. Please call my cell phone if we can come for the weekend.

Love, Dozer

We're Bachelors for the Weekend!

Mum has left for North Carolina to see her parents.
Dad is hangin' with us in our hood.
We thought we'd wait by our window in
case Mum comes to her senses and comes back
tonight. But Dottie says she won't.

Cooper is crying but I'm not.
I'm tough, Corgis don't cry.

If you see Mum could you tell her she needs
to come home right now? It is really important.
Dad doesn't know my bed time song or how
to tuck me in.

And Cooper needs his nose wiped. And soon.

Wordless Wednesday

(This is so pathetic. Cooper is just trying to snorgle with Mum)

(I am so out of here. If she's sleeping then she can't be
getting me treats. I have to find a vertical food provider)

Pumpkin Needs Some Paw-ful Help

The Daily Corgi put us in touch with Pumpkin and we've made our donation!

We gave our toy money to Pumpkin's Mum today. It made me very sad but Cooper says it is the thing to do. (I think Cooper is nuts).

Mum says that she understands why Pumpkin's Mum needs some monetary help. Mum reminded me of my two knee surgeries, which apparently cost slightly less than the national debt. (And you can put a price on love because...?)

Anywhoo, this is my generous, selfless and truly canine-umantarian posting. (And why is Cooper rolling his eyes?)

This is Pumpkin (see below) and his story is below and it is enough to make you cry. (Mum thinks Lori should get to keep him and we could help that happen by contributing $1, $2, or even $10.  Did I mention Mum threw all our May toy money Pumpkin's way? And this without a vote!) You know even $1 will make a difference. You probably have that in your pocket, yes?

“He had to have surgery for his cranial cruciate ligament on one of his back legs on March 29. I was told he needed the surgery, so I spent several thousand that I borrowed from Care Credit. Then, about a week ago, he developed immune mediated hemolytic anemia. He has been in the hospital for several days. I have spent a couple thousand more and I am just about wiped out. He is receiving several steroids in an attempt to get his red blood level to come up. The doctors tell me the level could come up overnight or it could take a week. Someone else I spoke to said that her dog was in the hospital for many weeks with the disease. In addition, I have been out of work so much in the past weeks that I may lose my job if I take anymore time off. I am in Montclair, NJ, about 12 miles west of Manhattan. He is currently in a hospital in Fairfield, NJ, which is about 6 miles further west. He is neutered and is up to date on all vaccinations including canine flu. Please do put the word out if you think someone would be interested. He is a real love, and this is the hardest thing I’ve ever had to do. Pumpkin and I need help. I would give him up to someone who could help him. Do you know of anyone looking for a really adorable corgi, who can afford more treatment for him? He looks adorable and he is really sweet with people. He does not get along with other dogs. He is okay with cats. He is very affectionate and strongly housetrained.”
