Shhh Sleepy Sunday!
We had a terrific thunderstrom this morning at 3:15am. There are unsubstantiated rumors that I slept on top of Mum and Cooper slept under the bed during the lightening and thunder. (I was keeping Mum safe, nothing more) Cooper jumped ship and went under the bed where he was scared all by himself. I knew this because I heard him snoring. (Mum is rolling her eyes, whatever that means).
Dottie was zonked out in the laundry room and never heard or saw a thing. Consequently, today will be spent in catching up on lost sleep.
This is me with my red dinosaur. Notice the juxtaposition of our legs? Yeah, I know, I do have an artsy fartsy side.
This is Cooper napping because he never slept - scaredy cat!
It's the snorgle monster! Cooper took over the comfy chair and is sawing z's.
Cooper has to go to the groomer at 10am because he has turned into a shaggy mess. Mum wouldn't tell you this but I will - Coop needs his bum trimmed up. He has been coming into the house with poo stuck to his bum and then he scoots on the floor and leaves racing tracks! BOL! Mum always cleans it up but she said we need to nip this. Well duh!

Insidious Squirrels! - Notes from Dozer
Dottie finally returned to the fold and brought treats! Apparently those squirrels are now using brainwashing techniques and cruel torture to infiltrate our troops! Dottie says she was kidnapped by a battalion of squirrels and taken to their secret outpost under the garden shed. After hours of playing Crazy Eights, eating rawhide chewies with liver dip and drinking aged-to-perfection toilet water, Dottie said that it seemed to make sense to invite the squirrels into the house. She said the squirrels released her with the treats as a sign of good faith. I can see no good of this coming and I feel we must say strong or we will succumb to these long-tailed rodents. Cooper unfortunately dove into the rawhide chewies and liver dip with total abandon so I don't see him being a big help. I continue to recover my injuries (like I am going to 'forgive and forget' the squirrels and my fight with them? Not!) and have sandbagged all the doors to the outside. I called Home Depot and they are delivering wooden slats to cover the windows and I am putting spikes in the flue of the fireplace. Those squirrels will not take over the house!
"Listen those squirrels are really nice and you should see their pantry! They have bags of treats and the most amazing liver dip, you guys should come play Crazy Eights with us!
I tried one of the chewies and it was good...but my injury reminds me of my duty to Whack A Squirrel.
Cooper has forgotten all his training and
has fallen to our prey's wiley ways!

He also fell asleep while on duty again.

Baby Gates Cannot Keep Me Out

Sleepy Sunday - Notes from Cooper Edwards
Unfortunately no one (thanks a lot Casbah Kitten) told us today was Mother's Day. Consequently, I did not have anything to give Mum except my undying love and a short haiku I wrote in her honor. As long as Mum doesn't go to Jane and Alice's blog we should be okay. (They went and got candle holders that will hang over the bed. My haiku pales in comparison but Mum said it meant the world to her.)
As this is Sunday it is our day of rest, although it also involved a 10am date at the All Natural Doggie Day Spa which meant baths and a haircut for me. Dozer got "furminated" because he is blowing fluff everywhere and he also rolled in something that made him smell like an old wino that pee'd on himself. (Sometimes I wonder how Mum determines these things because Dozer can't leave the house and that backyard isn't that big so I don't know how he can smell like an old wino. But Mom is more knowledgeable about these things than I am...still...).

This is my famous curve position. Note the position of my tail as it is the follow-through of the design.
This is the finale of the curve design, again note the tail position as we complete the design.
Oh Mum! What a kidder! This was me pre-grooming date. Looking a little bit like Little Lord Fauntleroy aren't I?
Goodness! This is a bit risque of Dozer. When he flakes out, he flakes out. I told Mum we should pose him and put glasses on him but she said that would not be nice...funny, but not nice.

A Stuffie Tale - Notes from Coop
Mum says if you have a minute (or less if you are a fast reader) you must click on the picture so it gets big enough for you to read. She got this from Dad who got it from the mail. They both think that it looks like Dozer and I have to agree, there is a resemblance (and an attitude similarity if you ask me!) Anyway, Mum says it is really cute so I thought I would throw it up (not literally of course) on the blog for you to see. Love, Cooper

A Quiet Weekend _ Cooper's Notes
We have had a quiet weekend at home. Dottie is feeling better but she is still very sick. Dr. Williams called and said the radiologist read Dottie's x-rays and said the big stone should come out. But Mum and Dr. W decided to take a "wait and see" approach. Dottie will be 16 years old in two weeks and Mum is not sure she would survive the surgery and recovery. Right now Miss Dottie has a very big strep infection in her bladder so she is on antibiotics and pain medication. So our whole focus on Dots is for her to rest, eat her special food (which looks disgusting), take her medications and rest some more. I think the angels upstairs heard our prayers because they brought us a beautiful sunny, warm day - just the kind of day Dottie loves. So she went outside and walked around the yard and looked at her apple tree.
Doesn't she look good? Dozer says he looks better but I think he is missing the point (as usual!)
This is Miss Dots watching the bird feeder - I can't figure out if she thinks a bird would be tasty or if she just likes to watch them.
All her outside activity made her tired so Dottie feel asleep on her snake toy. She missed the NCAA basketball game but Mum said to just let her rest. Mum bought Dottie a brand new orthopedic bed which is giganormous and very comfortable - but only Dottie gets to sleep on it. (So I licked it a bunch instead).
We have a big package from Moco but Mum says we will wait to open it until later in the week. We are..what did Mum say?...Oh, we are just living in the moment with Dottie and taking each day as it comes. Thank you for all your nice thoughts and prayers.

It is Good
It is good to be home - to the place on the carpet by the fire where I like to lay my head. It is good to have tummy rubs, to lie in the grass and to sleep in my bed again. The boys think I was off on some magical adventure when all I was really doing was trying to get home. And now I am back where I am happiest. I close my eyes now and sleep. ~ Dottie
Dottie came home last night at 5:14pm and immediately ran out into the yard and rolled in the grass. She is on a special dog food and antibiotics but otherwise is back to her old self. And her tail has not stopped wagging. It is good to have an old dog home. (Mum)
